Compound Sodium Lactate Injection IP (Ringer Lactate solution for injection)

Compound Sodium Lactate Injection IP (Ringer Lactate solution for injection)

Therapeutic Use:

Compound Sodium Lactate, also known as Ringer’s Lactate (RL), is used for fluid resuscitation, electrolyte replacement, and treatment of metabolic acidosis. It is commonly administered to patients suffering from severe dehydration, burns, trauma, hemorrhagic shock, and surgical fluid loss to restore volume and stabilize acid-base balance.

Mechanism of Action:

Sodium (Na+), Potassium (K+), and Calcium (Ca2+) restore electrolyte levels in the blood. Lactate (C3H5O3-) is converted into bicarbonate by the liver, helping correct metabolic acidosis. The solution maintains osmotic balance, preventing hypotension and circulatory collapse.

Key Benefits:

  • ✔ Preferred resuscitation fluid in trauma and emergency medicine.
  • ✔ Helps in correcting acidosis in critically ill patients.
  • ✔ Supports kidney function and maintains cardiac output.
  • ✔ Reduces risk of hyperchloremic acidosis, a side effect of normal saline.
